The Veterans Affairs Department has received failing grades from the Center for Plain Language for not complying with the Plain Writing Act of 2011, which has determined VA fails to speak plainly. This Act requires federal agencies to make their rules and policies easier for the general public to understand. Agencies are graded on how well they meet the requirements of the advocates and how well they train employees and take other steps. VA received an F in both departments, garnering 10 out of a possible 100 points on the evaluation.
