A new bill that would have provided about $21 billion in aid to our nation’s veterans has failed to make it through Congress. This bill to boost benefits for veterans, proposed by Senate Veterans Affairs’ Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders, proposed sweeping changes that would benefit veterans. Notably, VA would have been provided with additional resources to cut into its seemingly endless backlog. The bill also included provisions concerning health care, jobs, education, and pensions. The bill was derailed due in large part to questions over funding.
