VETERANS HELP GROUP
VA benefits
VA benefits are available for a range of disabilities suffered by U.S. armed service members. Disability compensation is a monthly payment made to veterans who were injured during their time of service. The sum is determined by the severity of the injury received and its resulting disability. Compensation is designed to pay for lost working potential or missed wages caused by illness or injury.
Generally speaking, the amount of money received is determined by the degree of the disability on a rating scale of 10% to 100%. The payments can range anywhere from $127 to more than $2,769 or more depending on dependents and add-ons for special circumstances. Disability Compensation is tax-free.

Additional Types of Payments
Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) is a tax-free benefit payable to surviving spouses, children, or parents of service members killed in active duty. DIC compensation is usually given when the surviving spouse, child, or parent was financially dependent on the service member.
Special Monthly Compensation (SMC) is a tax-free benefit paid to veterans or their surviving families. When paid to veterans, the compensation is used to provide a higher rate of compensation for special circumstances. For instance, service members who suffered the loss of an arm or leg may be eligible for SMC compensation.
