Stars and Stripes- After an investigation was released that found that 90 percent of benefit claims related to mustard gas testing have been denied, Senator Clare McCaskill, D-Mo. released a new bill. Mustard gas and an associated agent called Lewisite cause burning on the skin and lungs and can result in other serious health problems. McCaskill believes that about 400 veterans may still be alive and eligible for benefits. Along with expediting these cases the bill also requires the Defense Department to build a new list of testing sites biased on these veterans claims and other evidence.
