Veterans have always been seen in a different light. They have been depicted as heroes, as victims and most recently as monsters. Due to the increase in violence on the news, there is worry that fear is just going to make it more difficult to acclimate to civilian life. Although the media is emphasizing the fact that the shooters in Baton Rouge and Dallas are veterans, their records do not indicate any combat exposure within the military. As the push for veterans to seek help increases so does the push to remove the stigma and fear of these veterans within the community.
