Veterans will see a 1.6% increase in monthly disability checks in 2020.
Eligible veterans with a disability rate of 10 percent or higher can receive monthly benefit checks as tax-free compensation. Those with a rating of 100% can be awarded as much as $3,106.04 monthly. 2020 VA Disability Pay Rates
The VA adjusts benefits every year to align with the rate of inflation.
- For 10%, the average monthly check will go up by $10.
- For 100% the average monthly check will go up by $100.
The Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) is based on comparing the Consumer Price Index to the previous year. If there is an increase, COLA is enacted. The COLA affects about one in every five Americans, including Social Security recipients, disabled veterans, federal retirees, and retired military members.
