Military Times- Gulf war illnesses have always been categorized as a multi-symptom disorder. The beginnings of which started in 1990 when troops were deployed into Iraq. Symptoms include but are not limited to joint pain, gastrointestinal disorders, fatigue, headaches, insomnia, and memory problems. A professor at Georgetown University, Dr. James Baraniuk, has been conducting research in regards to Gulf War illnesses. What he has been focusing on is biological evidence in the brain that show proof of damage. These findings could lead to improved treatments.
