VA Begins Accepting VA Disability Claims for Camp Lejeune Contamination

Rusty barrels of hazardous chemicals.On Tuesday, March 14, 2017 the VA’s new presumptive service connection for certain diseases and exposure to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune went into effect. The VA has started accepting disability claims for Camp Lejeune contamination exposure. Veterans, Reservists, and National Guard members who were stationed in Camp Lejeune from August 1st, 1953 to December 31st, 1987 may be eligible for compensation.

The following diseases will be considered:

  • Adult leukemia
  • Aplastic anemia and other myelodysplastic syndromes
  • Bladder Cancer
  • Kidney Cancer
  • Liver Cancer
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
  • Parkinson’s disease

According the VA, the disability claims for Camp Lejeune contamination will be processed out of the Louisville, KY Veterans Affairs Regional Office.  The VA is expecting 200,000 claims so we recommend that you file your disability claim ASAP.
