Community Outreach at Veterans Help Group: A Busy and Impactful Spring
By: Amy McArdle, Senior Advocate & Bobbi Boudi, Director of Community Outreach
This spring has been one of the busiest and most rewarding outreach seasons in recent memory for Veterans Help Group. Our team has been actively engaging with veterans, service members, military families, and community partners across multiple states, ensuring that veterans have access to valuable resources, information, and support.
Over the past several months, Veterans Help Group has participated in an impressive number of outreach events designed to connect directly with those who have served our nation. Our commitment to meeting veterans where they are has taken us to community gatherings, conferences, and service-oriented events across the country.
Where We Showed Up
One of the highlights of the season was our participation in six VA Stand Down for Homelessness events, working alongside community organizations and government agencies dedicated to assisting veterans experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity. These events are critical opportunities to connect veterans with housing resources, healthcare services, employment assistance, and other essential support.
We also attended three Resource Fairs, where we had the opportunity to speak with veterans and their families about available benefits, services, and support programs. These events provided an important platform for education and one-on-one engagement.
In addition, Veterans Help Group was invited to participate in six organizational events and monthly coffee socials where our team either delivered presentations or staffed informational tables. These invitations reflect the growing recognition of our expertise and the value we bring to veteran-focused discussions and community initiatives.
Not all outreach looks the same. We also participated in a Take-A-Vet Fishing event — a meaningful afternoon that combined recreation, camaraderie, and genuine connection with veterans in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Sometimes the most important conversation happens on a dock.
Conferences and Military Partnerships
Our outreach efforts extended to major military and veteran conferences. We were proud to attend the National Guard Association of Colorado (NGACO) Conference, where we connected with National Guard members, leaders, and supporters while sharing information about the resources available through Veterans Help Group.
The team also participated in five Association of the United States Army (AUSA) events, including both Sixth Region and Suncoast Chapter gatherings. These events provided excellent opportunities to strengthen relationships within the military community and engage with service members, veterans, and industry partners.
26 Events. One Mission.
In total, Veterans Help Group participated in 26 outreach events this spring. Each one was an opportunity to build connections, increase awareness, and help veterans access the benefits and services they have earned through their service. As we move into the summer months, that work continues.
Every conversation at every one of those 26 events came back to the same thing — making sure veterans know what they’ve earned and how to get it.
