Filing a Claim for VA Benefits

i 3 Table Of Contents

Filing a claim for VA benefits is simple in theory. You must complete an Application for Compensation (generally VA Form 21-526) or, if the claim is for a surviving spouse or child, by completing a VA Form 21-534. Attach a copy of the veterans DD214 and supporting military records, medical records and any other evidence that is relevant. Mail the completed application and records (retain a copy for your records) to the nearest VA Regional Office in your state.

See this list of VA Regional Offices.

NOTE: Applying for benefits can be confusing, however. The applications are long and complicated. Please contact our office for a free consultation if you have questions about filing a claim for VA benefits.
