The Leadership and Valor Dinner
The USS Yorktown was the ideal location to host the Leadership and Valor Dinner which brought out ten Medal of Honor recipients and hundreds of others in support of the bold initiative to construct The National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
What is the National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership?
The world-class National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership seeks to educate and inspire future leaders who will embody the same values that Medal of Honor Recipients and servicemen display. This center will be more than just a tribute to the past—it will be a beacon for the future, grounded in the timeless principles of courage, sacrifice, selflessness, patriotism, integrity, and honor .
A Powerful Message for Our Country
“Values-based leadership is about more than just making decisions or achieving goals. It is about guiding our actions with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to the greater good. It is about fostering an environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute, where collaboration thrives, and where the ideals of service and sacrifice are celebrated,” said South Carolina Congresswomen Nancy Mace.
“In times of great need, there are those who step up to lead selflessly and make sacrifices for others. We call that “meeting your moment”. Today, perhaps more than ever, Americans are looking for examples of leadership that can unite us and guide us forward,” said Medal of Honor recipient, Barney Barnum.
“The values that we extol, and that the National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership strives to teach and embrace, are not just military values – they are human values and American values,” said Medal of Honor recipient David Bellavia.
“We believe that “Leaders are Made, Not Born,” and there is no better source of leadership than those who have demonstrated unparalleled bravery, selflessness, and commitment to our nation—our Medal of Honor Recipients,” said Tom Mundell, President and CEO, National Medal of Honor Center for Leadership.
