National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates Spring Conference 2019

Over the weekend Ralph Bratch, Dan Smith, and Chris Boudi attended the National Organization of Veterans’ Advocates (NOVA) 2019 Spring Conference.

The NOVA Conference is intended for both new and experienced veterans advocate practitioners to increase knowledge, confidence, and expertise in representing veterans before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (CAVC) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Ralph Bratch sat on a panel on “Practical Considerations for Advocates”, which focused on appeals reform. The goal of this panel was to help practitioners consider how to manage the different types of appeals being adjudicated when the new system goes into effect: legacy appeals, RAMP appeals, and new appeals under the AMA. The presenters addressed practical considerations for tracking and managing appeals, discuss trends, and share practice tips.

The Veterans Help Group team enjoys meeting with like-minded veteran advocates to share and learn together with the goal of improving outcomes for all. Dan Smith sits on the board of NOVA to help advise on conference ideation and topic areas.
