Phone scam targets Elderly Central Texas Vets

A group has been targeting veterans who have been receiving benefits from the VA. The caller states that they are from the VA and  can re-assess the veterans claim and award them an increase in monthly payouts. If the Veteran agrees the caller proceeds to ask personal questions that in turn allows them to gain access to bank accounts and open up credit cards.

If you feel that you or someone you know has been a victim of this scamp please contact the Killeen Police Department at (254) 501-8800.
