Veterans Help Group & VFW Launch a Game Changer for Veterans: The Social Security Disability Eligibility Screener

At Veterans Help Group, we’re always looking for ways to better serve our veterans. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our latest collaboration with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in the launch of an innovative Social Security Disability Eligibility Screener.

This new online tool is designed to simplify the process for veterans to determine if they’re eligible for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), a benefit that often goes overlooked but can make a huge difference alongside VA disability compensation.

Why Does This Matter for Veterans?

Navigating disability benefits can be very overwhelming. Between VA disability claims and Social Security Disability, it’s easy to get frustrated quickly. That’s where this screener comes in, it cuts through the confusion by walking you through a simple set of questions tailored to the Social Security Disability process.

We’re proud to team up with the VFW on this effort to make sure no veteran misses out on what they’ve earned.

“Veterans have earned the right to every benefit available to them, yet many struggle to understand how Social Security Disability might couple and supplement their VA disability compensation. We commend VFW leadership for having the foresight to pursue solutions helping veterans bridge that gap.” – CEO of Veterans Help Group Joe Waring

“The VFW is committed to standing by our veterans at every stage of their journey. By collaborating with Veterans Help Group on this screener, we’re equipping our members, and veterans everywhere with knowledge and resources they need to understand Social Security disability benefits, enhancing their quality of life and financial stability.” – Director of VFW National Veterans Service Mike Figlioli

How Does the SSD Screener Work?

This user-friendly screener guides veterans through a series of easy questions to help assess their eligibility for SSDI. You don’t need to be an expert in the system or spend hours Googling requirements, it’s designed to be quick, clear, and accessible.

When Will The Screener Be Available?

As of late April 2025, the SSD Eligibility Screener is already live and available here to VFW members nationwide. And that’s just the start! Educational workshops are also being planned to spread awareness and ensure veterans know how to access and use this powerful tool.

Whether you’re already receiving VA disability benefits or you’re exploring your options, this screener could help uncover additional benefits you didn’t even know you qualified for.
